Hi all, this tumblr mainly exists as a way of tracking all the movies I've been watching and some of the initial thoughts, and general feelings, I've had about them.
5/5 - Fantastic movies; movies which need to be seen and enjoyed by everyone.
4/5 - Movies which are very good but don’t have that spark which compels you to make others watch them as well.
3/5 - Average movies; watchable and enjoyable, but nothing which elevates them higher. The baseline all movies are given before watching.
2/5 - Can be watched but really bland and forgettable.
1/5 - Minimal to no reason to watch these films. It may have some redeeming factors e.g. it’s so bad it’s good or there’s one character that’s awesome enough to make it not a total waste of time.
0/5- Total waste of time. Nothing redeemable about these films.
As with every review blog/site, this is all my own personal opinion so feel free to take everything with a grain of salt.
Also I'm Scottish so all reviews will be in UK English. Get used to theatre, colour and words ending in -ised.

#391/#108 Cowboys and Aliens
Cowboy Jake Lonergan (Daniel Craig) wakes up in the middle of the desert with an unusual metal shackle attached to his arm and no memory of who he is or how he got there. Heading into town he runs foul of both the local law and the wealthy cattleman (Harrison Ford) for being a noted outlaw while also attracting the attention of a mysterious woman (Olivia Wilde). Before things can come to a head however the town is attacked by aliens, stealing some of the townsfolk, and the groups must put aside their differences in order to get their people back.
This is a film of very pretty eyes. Wilde is a very attractive woman all around to be sure, but no more so than a lot of other actresses in Hollywood. He eyes however, are just distractingly pretty. You forget to pay attention to whatever else is going on in the scene. Similarly Craig, though looking like a confused chimpanzee for the most part, has really shockingly blue eyes. Maybe not the more cogent pieces of information about the film but there it is.
This film was not as bad as I had been lead to believe. I think a lot of people had come into it looking for a silly ‘X fights X’ movie in the vain of alien vs predator given the title, but it has actually got a lot more story and development to it than the name would suggest. Knowing that going in it was a fairly enjoyable, all be it average, western film with a sci-fi twist.
For an Englishman Craig does an pretty good cowboy and held my attention for the duration of the film. The amnesia plotline has been done to death but it worked well enough for what was going on in this. Similarily Wilde was fine, but anyone could have filled her role and nothing would have been lost (except those baby blues). Ford however is kinda the weak link in this. Everything he’s in now, he’s just the grumpy old man character and it’s not that appealing or interesting. It worked in the likes of Morning Glory but in this it’s just boring to watch. The alien designs were also pretty generic and nothing all that interesting.
Overall, not as bad as many have been saying but nothing to write home about all the same. 3/5
