Welcome everyone. This blog mainly exists as a way of tracking all the movies I've been watching and some of the initial thoughts and general feelings I've had about them.

Rating System

5/5 - Fantastic movies; movies which need to be seen and enjoyed by everyone.

4/5 - Movies which are very good but don’t have that spark which compels you to make others watch them as well.

3/5 - Average movies; watchable and enjoyable, but nothing which elevates them higher. The baseline all movies are given before watching.

2/5 - Can be watched but really bland and forgettable.

1/5 - Minimal to no reason to watch these films. It may have some redeeming factors e.g. it’s so bad it’s good or there’s one character that’s awesome enough to make it not a total waste of time.

0/5- Total waste of time. Nothing redeemable about these films.

As with every review blog/site, this is all my own personal opinion so feel free to take everything with a grain of salt.

Also I'm Scottish so all reviews will be in UK English. Get used to theatre, colour and words ending in -ised.

#285/#2 Mission Impossible - Ghost Protocol
When their entire agency is disavowed after a terrorist attack on the Russian Kremlin is made to look like their group was responsible, Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his team (Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg and Paula Patton) begin working with the limited tech they have in order to track down the real culprits and clear their names.
My feelings on the series: I like the first one, the second one is turn your brain off fun and the 3rd one left such little impact that all I can recall is the main villains death scene.
This film might be the best in the series as it’s just a good time at the movies. It’s got great stunts, great action, great characters, a wonderful team dynamic and a good overall pace. It’s no longer the Ethan Hunt show but focuses on all the members of the team, which is a big plus when ever member of the team is well developed and interesting to watch (as well as all played by good actors).
The villain, while a little one dimensional, is also played really well by Michael Nyqvist of Swedish Girl With the Dragon Tattoo fame. It was interesting to see him playing the baddy when he was everyman/moral background in the girl with series but he can definitely pull it off well.
The only real downside in this flick is that the story isn’t all that engaging or original but it really isn’t a deal breaker when you get to see some of the fantastic set pieces sprinkled throughout this movie and watch the character interactions and jokes. Lastly, fair play to Tom Cruise. Dude might be bonkers in real life but in every movie I see him in I enjoy him and you won’t be finding to many 50 year olds willing to do most of their own stunts. He’s still not right for Reacher but he’s kicking ass as Ethan Hunt even now.
Had I seen this before the end of the year this would have easily been 7th or 8th on my top 10 of 2011. It’s a silly popcorn movie, but it’s a really good and entertaining silly popcorn movie so do it right and see it on the big screen. 4/5
